About Alexis
Alexis Marquet studied Electronic for 3 years in CFPT, Geneva, then did his bachelor in Hardware IT at Hepia. He is currently studying a Master’s in Media Design at HEAD.

Alexis’ process
To create this piece, Alexis Marquet started by drawing a photo of Yayoi Kusama’s “Give me Love” without looking at the paper, this was the result:

The second step of the process was to create a dress following the words suggested by that drawing:

Alexis’ keywords born from these were: WELL FITTING, DISTORTED, SQUARE

And he started working on his project by sketching what he had in mind:

Alexis then printed triangular tiles on paper, making a crease on each line, and trying different cutting patterns, before he ended with a shape that pleased him. He then traced the flat shape on illustrator, adding and removing lines to create the structure and the aesthetics he wanted.

He then CNC-cut the waterproof nylon fabric, and sewed it to have the basic shape of the bag. He then laser-cut the shiny black acrylic into facets. He then sewed them by hand to the bag. They provide both the aesthetically pleasing aspect of the bag as well as keeping the bag in shape.
